1.FC Köln has reportedly increased their asking price for promising young winger Said El Mala to a substantial €50 million, following a surge of interest from several Premier League clubs. Previously, a fee of around €35 million was deemed sufficient to secure the 19-year-old’s services, with Brighton reportedly close to a deal last month. However, the proposed move appears to have stalled, leading Köln to re-evaluate their valuation.
Beyond Brighton, other prominent English clubs such as Newcastle United and Chelsea have also emerged as serious contenders for El Mala’s signature. Reports suggest that Chelsea is preparing an offer in the region of €45 million for the talented forward. Further solidifying their financial position, 1.FC Köln has successfully acquired the sell-on clause previously held by El Mala’s former club, Viktoria Köln, which stemmed from his €225,000 transfer last summer.
