Reports suggest Arsenal have entered the race to sign a highly-rated Premier League forward, valued at £35 million, who some believe could reach the level of Sadio Mane.
Arsenal Searching for New Winger
There have been discussions about the need for Arsenal to recruit a new winger during the upcoming summer transfer window. Concerns have been raised regarding the consistency of Gabriel Martinelli`s performances throughout the 2024-25 campaign. Former defender Nigel Winterburn, for instance, indicated that bringing in a replacement might be necessary.
Winterburn commented: “That performance against Liverpool was better, but his form has been a bit erratic this season. He definitely needs to get back to the consistent levels of performance that we’ve seen in the past that we know he can produce.”
He added: “However, it wouldn’t surprise me, if I’m honest, if Arsenal brought someone in on that left-hand side to be a challenge and eventually replace Martinelli next season.”
Subsequently, Mikel Arteta`s team has identified several potential wing targets for the summer, including Juventus prospect Kenan Yildiz, now reportedly a priority, and Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane.
However, with Tottenham Hotspur considered frontrunners for Sane`s signature, Arsenal may turn to alternative options. A recent report from Spain indicates they have joined the pursuit for Brighton & Hove Albion`s promising player, Yankuba Minteh.
Minteh is attracting considerable interest ahead of the summer transfer window. Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United are also reportedly monitoring his development closely. Brighton might be willing to let him go for a fee in the region of £35 million.
As of now, none of these interested clubs have submitted a formal bid. However, the Seagulls could face challenges keeping the forward should a significant offer materialise, highlighting the widespread attention he is receiving.
`Dangerous` Minteh `Can Reach Sadio Mane`s Level`
Before the 20-year-old`s transfer to Brighton last summer, a Serbian football scout reportedly suggested that the young player had the potential to “reach Sadio Mane`s level.” This is high praise, considering the crucial role the Senegalese winger played for Jurgen Klopp`s Liverpool side for several years.
Since joining Brighton, the Gambian international has established himself as an important player for Fabian Hurzeler`s team. In his first Premier League season, he recorded six goals and four assists across 32 matches.
Former Feyenoord striker Pierre van Hooijdonk has also praised the young forward, describing him as “extremely dangerous.” His statistical performance over the past year in key attacking areas, combined with solid defensive numbers, suggests he is a well-rounded player.
