Aston Villa Willing to Pay £27m+ for Explosive Forward Igor Paixão

Football News

According to a recent report, Aston Villa is prepared to meet the asking price to sign an “explosive” new attacking talent this summer.

Changes Expected at Villa Ahead of PSR Deadline

With the Premier League`s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) deadline approaching at the end of the month, Aston Villa needs to generate funds through player sales before they can make new signings. Movement on the exit front appears imminent, with reports suggesting two players are close to leaving Villa Park: Emiliano Martínez and Lucas Digne are both reportedly seeking permanent moves away.

Martinez is said to have attracted significant interest from Manchester United recently and reportedly prefers a move to Old Trafford over FC Barcelona, who are also interested.

Meanwhile, Lucas Digne is reportedly in talks with Spanish club Atletico Madrid to bolster their team`s options. The French defender is in the final year of his contract with Villa and, after featuring inconsistently last season, it seems he is now free to depart the Premier League club.

These potential player exits could enable Villa to enter the transfer market and acquire players that manager Unai Emery believes can enhance his squad`s options. Former Villa chief scout Mick Brown suggested that Aston Villa might target Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount, as Emery is reportedly an admirer of the player.

Aston Villa Ready to Pay Over £27m for Paixão

However, Mount isn`t the only attacking option Villa has their sights on. According to Dutch outlet Algemeen Dagblad, as reported by Sport Witness, Aston Villa is now actively interested in signing Igor Paixão from Feyenoord.

Feyenoord has recently made record sales from the transfers of Santiago Giménez and Mats Wieffer. The Dutch club is reportedly open to selling Paixão as well, provided they receive a transfer fee exceeding previous record sales, specifically looking for more than €32 million, which is roughly £27 million.

This asking price has not deterred Villa. The report indicates that the Premier League club is willing to pay this transfer fee, although it notes that a transfer is currently considered “a long way off at the moment.”

The 24-year-old, who can play on either wing, has appeared on Villa`s radar after a strong performance last season, scoring 16 goals in 34 Eredivisie appearances and adding two goals in the Champions League.

Paixão, described as “explosive” by scout Jacek Kulig, recently shared his aspirations in an interview with Globo Esporte, revealing that he “dreams of playing for a big club.”

Quoted by Sport Witness, Paixão stated: “Showing my football, being recognised by the big clubs, is gratifying. I dream of getting to a big team; it is the fruit of my work. If it is meant to happen, it will happen.”
