Atlético Madrid has received another blow to their squad as midfielder Pablo Barrios has sustained a fresh injury. The young talent was unfortunately forced off the pitch during their recent La Liga match against Athletic Club.
Barrios, who had recently returned from a prior injury spell, was making his first start since early March. However, midway through the second half of the 3-2 victory, the 22-year-old went down clutching his left leg after a challenge. It was evident he was in too much pain to continue and was substituted by manager Diego Simeone.
This latest setback means Barrios will miss Atlético’s crucial midweek Champions League semi-final first-leg encounter with Arsenal.
