Barcelona, the prominent La Liga club, announced injury updates for two key first-team players on Sunday. These updates follow their early exits from Saturday’s significant match against Atlético Madrid.
The Blaugrana had just taken a crucial step towards retaining their La Liga title. Securing a 2-1 victory at the Metropolitano, Barcelona extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points.
However, the hard-fought win was overshadowed by two injury concerns for Hansi Flick’s squad. Defender Ronald Araújo was forced off with a thigh problem in the first half, and his replacement, Marc Bernal, also had to leave the field early due to an ankle issue.
A day later, the club provided official updates on both players’ conditions.
According to Barcelona’s statement, Ronald Araújo has a minor muscle strain in his left thigh but is expected to be available for Wednesday’s upcoming match against Atlético de Madrid. Marc Bernal, however, has sustained a sprained left ankle, with his return timeline dependent on the injury’s progression.
