Barcelona will see a financial benefit from the impending transfer of midfielder Sergi Altimira, who is reportedly close to joining Sporting CP from Real Betis.
The 24-year-old midfielder is understood to be on the brink of a move to Portugal, with an agreement reached between Sporting CP and Real Betis for a transfer fee of €18 million, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
However, the financial gains from Altimira’s transfer will extend beyond Real Betis. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will also receive a share of the transfer fee. Due to Altimira’s formative years at Barcelona’s youth academy between 2012 and 2019, the Catalan club is entitled to approximately €400,000 through the FIFA solidarity mechanism.
Sabadell, the club Altimira joined from Barcelona, will also be eligible for a portion of the transfer proceeds.
