Barcelona’s João Cancelo Suffers Late Injury Scare in Rayo Vallecano Win

Football News

A defender from the La Liga champions, Barcelona, was forced to leave the pitch prematurely during their most recent fixture, sparking concerns over a potential injury.

Barcelona was recently in action, hosting Rayo Vallecano in a La Liga clash held in Catalonia’s capital. The Blaugrana ultimately secured a narrow 1-0 victory in the encounter.

Throughout the 90 minutes, coach Hansi Flick and his technical staff experienced several anxious moments regarding the well-being of players on the pitch. Among the initial scares, Joan García went to ground for the second consecutive match but managed to shake off the issue and continue playing. Subsequently, Barcelona’s Fermín López also appeared to be in discomfort after falling early in the second half; however, he too recovered and remained in the game.

However, in the game’s closing moments, it was João Cancelo’s turn to pick up an issue. Unlike his teammates who managed to continue, the Portuguese defender was unable to carry on and was substituted, with young Xavi Espart taking his place.

The full extent of Cancelo’s injury and whether it will lead to a period on the sidelines is yet to be determined.
