Bayer Leverkusen Considering Crystal Palace Manager Oliver Glasner as a Replacement for Kasper Hjulmand

Bundesliga News

Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly eyeing Oliver Glasner, the departing manager of Crystal Palace, as a potential successor to Kasper Hjulmand. Glasner is scheduled to leave the South London club this summer, making him available on a free transfer. Interestingly, Die Werkself had previously considered Glasner five years ago before ultimately appointing Gerardo Seoane as head coach.

However, Glasner’s preference appears to be a move within the Premier League rather than a return to the Bundesliga. Leverkusen’s chances might be bolstered by the shrinking number of Premier League clubs that could offer a clear step up from Palace and are currently seeking a new head coach. For instance, Tottenham Hotspur has already secured Roberto De Zerbi, while the future of interim head coach Michael Carrick at Manchester United remains uncertain.

Leverkusen’s Alternative Candidates:

Should a deal for Glasner not materialize, Bayer Leverkusen is also reportedly interested in Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler. The former St. Pauli head coach has expressed a desire to manage a team competing in European competitions next season, a guarantee Leverkusen cannot currently offer. Additionally, Hürzeler’s contract includes a release clause, rumored to be around €15 million.
