Borussia Dortmund Commemorates Rote Erde Stadium’s Centennial with Special Edition Jersey

Bundesliga News

Borussia Dortmund has unveiled a commemorative jersey to celebrate the centennial of the historic Rote Erde stadium. This special kit is scheduled to be worn during their upcoming Bundesliga match against Hamburg on March 21st.

Beyond the men’s first team, the BVB women’s squad will don the new strip for their fixture against Recklinghausen, and Borussia Dortmund legends are also set to wear it in their match versus Benfica.

The jersey’s design intricately weaves in significant elements that define the enduring character and distinctive ambiance of the venerable venue. The front panel features a pattern drawn from the stadium’s two iconic entrance gates, particularly emphasizing the unique marathon gate.

The sleeves, collar, and player numbering (flocking) pay homage to the familiar running track that has encircled the pitch for decades, witnessing countless sporting moments. The color palette and the styling of the BVB logo are inspired by the sandstone walls that have stood as a defining feature of the stadium since its inauguration in 1926. To complete the tribute, the reverse of the jersey proudly displays the inscription “100 Jahre Stadion Rote Erde,” signifying “100 Years of Rote Erde stadium.”
