Burkardt Completes Move to Eintracht Frankfurt

Bundesliga News

Germany international Jonathan Burkardt has finalized his transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt, joining from fellow Bundesliga club Mainz.

The 24-year-old forward has agreed to a long-term deal, committing his future to Frankfurt until June 30, 2030. Burkardt spent seven seasons at Mainz, during which he set a club record by scoring 41 Bundesliga goals in 136 appearances. His performances also earned him a place in Julian Nagelsmann`s Germany national team squad.

“The discussions I had with Dino Toppmöller, Markus Krösche, and Timmo Hardung were positive and based on trust right from the start,” Burkardt commented on the move. “I was presented with a clear sporting vision, and I was immediately enthusiastic about it. I`m very happy to now be part of Eintracht Frankfurt and I`m really looking forward to playing for this special club from the coming season.”

Burkardt first featured for Mainz in the Bundesliga as an 18-year-old back in September 2018. Over his time at the club, he consistently saw increased playing time and took on more responsibility, eventually captaining the team.

Before making his senior international debut, Burkardt was a regular in Germany`s youth setups. He was a key member of the Germany U21 side that triumphed at the 2021 European Championship.

Markus Krösche, Eintracht Frankfurt`s board member for sport, expressed his satisfaction with the signing: “Jonny possesses many qualities that will benefit our game. He demonstrated strong finishing skills at Mainz, alongside excellent tactical understanding. He is a committed team player, both on and off the pitch. We are delighted to have successfully signed a German international striker for Eintracht.”
