Christian Pulisic continued his impressive form by netting the opening goal for AC Milan in their recent match against Venezia. This strike came just days after the team`s convincing 3-0 victory over rivals Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg.
Having joined AC Milan in the summer of 2023, Pulisic`s goal against Venezia was his 16th for the Rossoneri during the 2024-25 campaign. This achievement marks his most prolific season yet in terms of goals scored, surpassing his tally of 15 goals across all competitions in his debut year at the club, despite what has otherwise been a challenging season for the team now managed by Sergio Conceicao.
His 16 goals this season are broken down as follows: 10 in Serie A (including the goal against Venezia), four in the UEFA Champions League group stage, and two scored in the Supercoppa Italiana in January. The American winger has also become the first player since Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons to score more than 15 goals in all competitions in each of his first two seasons with AC Milan.
Pulisic converted the chance created by his teammate Youssouf Fofana early in the game, finding the net in the fifth minute against former Inter goalkeeper Ionit Radu. AC Milan`s strong start to the match, following their exciting win against Inter, suggested a renewed attitude compared to recent performances. This indicates the Rossoneri possess the quality to potentially secure a second trophy this season, with the Coppa Italia final against Bologna scheduled for May 14th, in addition to the Supercoppa Italiana they`ve already claimed.
