Another first-team player from Real Madrid has received a call-up for the upcoming World Cup. The player in question is David Alaba.
Despite a difficult season for the defender at the Spanish giants, marked by injuries and strong competition for starting positions, Alaba has only managed four La Liga starts. However, these challenges have not prevented him from being included in Austria’s squad for the major international tournament.
Austria officially unveiled their travelling party for the World Cup on Monday. Alaba, still considered a vital presence both on and off the pitch, has been named in Ralf Rangnick’s squad. The 33-year-old will be joined by players such as Elche’s David Affengruber, Borussia Dortmund’s Marcel Sabitzer, and veteran forward Marko Arnautović.
