Everton Considering Shock Move for Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott

Football News

Under David Moyes, Everton are seeking new players and are reportedly looking at a potential signing who might generate significant interest among fans.

Building for the Future and Coleman`s New Contract

As Everton transitions to their new home, the Hill Dickinson Stadium, which will be quite different from Goodison Park, club captain Seamus Coleman has extended his contract for another year and will lead the team at the new ground.

Following his contract extension, Coleman expressed his deep affection for the club: “I love Everton, so continuing to play for this special club means everything to me and my family. Like all our passionate fans, I`ve fully experienced the difficult past few years and have dedicated myself to helping us overcome challenges.”

He added, “Thanks to the efforts of many, we are moving into our magnificent new stadium, setting the stage for a brighter future under ambitious new ownership, and I want to be involved in that.”

Focusing on transfers, Everton is reportedly confident about signing Villarreal striker Thierno Barry, with speculation suggesting they might trigger his £34 million release clause, or possibly negotiate payment in installments.

Additionally, Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika is a target who could bolster Everton`s midfield, although West Ham United is also interested in the Nigerian international.

Surprising Interest in Liverpool`s Harvey Elliott

Transfer speculation around Everton is increasing, with July expected to be a key month after the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) deadline. A potentially controversial move is now being discussed that could attract significant media attention.

According to reports, Everton is among several Premier League clubs interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott.

Football analyst Graeme Bailey commented on the situation, stating that “nearly half of the Premier League clubs are seriously considering him, and Everton is one of them. While nothing is advanced, they are monitoring the situation, which is understandable given he is a star player from England`s U21 Euros squad with significant Premier League experience.”

Elliott had a peripheral role at Liverpool last season, making 28 appearances, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists.

Given the fierce rivalry between the clubs, Liverpool would likely demand a substantial transfer fee for the player who earns £40,000 per week. However, his performance, including scoring five goals and netting in the final as England won the Under-21 European Championship against Germany, might justify the price for some.

His impressive form, particularly scoring twice against the Netherlands in the semi-final, prompted Joe Cole to compare him to Lionel Messi, although this comparison was likely an exaggeration.

This potential move seems somewhat unexpected, but given Everton`s previously reported interest in another Liverpool youngster, Ben Doak, there might be a possibility for a deal to be struck between the clubs.
