Earlier in the summer, Fernandez had expressed a desire to join Real Madrid, but the Spanish club eventually withdrew their interest. Conversely, others remain displeased with his perceived disloyalty, particularly after he publicly stated his desire to move to Madrid and his agent, Javier Pastore, claimed he was underpaid.
