FURIA Overcomes Rivals, CAG Osaka Breaks Through to R6 Reload Grand Final in Rio

The R6 Reload tournament, kicking off the 2025 competitive season for Rainbow Six Siege, is set for a compelling conclusion in Rio de Janeiro. Brazilian fan favorites FURIA have secured their place in the grand final after a hard-fought victory, and they will contend for the title against Japan`s CAG Osaka, who achieved a significant milestone by reaching their first international final.

Semifinal Showdowns Pave the Way

Saturday`s semifinals delivered high-stakes action, determining the two teams that would advance. The first matchup saw CAG Osaka take on North America`s Wildcard Gaming. Wildcard initially took the lead with a 7-4 win on Nighthaven Labs. However, CAG Osaka responded decisively, mirroring the 7-4 scoreline on Chalet before dominating the decisive third map, Border, with a 7-3 victory, securing their historic 2-1 series win and a spot in the final.

The second semifinal was a highly anticipated Brazilian derby between FURIA and w7m. This match carried extra narrative weight, as the current FURIA roster is largely composed of former w7m players. As expected, the contest was intense and closely fought.

Map one, Border, delivered immediate drama. W7m established a commanding 5-1 lead, appearing poised to take the map comfortably. Yet, powered by a remarkable resurgence spearheaded by Kheyze, who would ultimately be named the match MVP, FURIA mounted an improbable comeback. They won seven consecutive rounds to snatch the map victory 8-6 in overtime, a stunning display of mental fortitude and technical execution.

Carrying that momentum into the second map, Kafe Dostoyevsky, FURIA quickly established a 3-0 lead. While w7m managed to claw back three rounds to narrow the gap, they could not contain FURIA`s sustained aggression and coordination. FURIA closed out the map 7-4, sealing the series 2-0 and booking their ticket to the grand final.

The Grand Final Matchup: Brazil vs. Japan

The R6 Reload grand final will feature a clash of regions as Brazil`s FURIA takes on Japan`s CAG Osaka. For FURIA, this represents a prime opportunity for their current roster, featuring players who previously found success with w7m, to secure their first major international title under the FURIA banner and establish dominance early in the 2025 season. For CAG Osaka, simply reaching this stage is a monumental achievement, marking their deepest run ever in an international R6 tournament.

The final is scheduled for Sunday at 16:15 local time in Rio and will be a best-of-five series. The R6 Reload tournament, which began on the 10th, features a substantial prize pool totaling approximately US$ 520,000 (nearly R$ 3 million), adding significant stakes to this highly anticipated cross-regional final.
