João Cancelo injury update after Barcelona 1-0 Rayo Vallecano

Football News

Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, has offered an update on the condition of defensive stalwart João Cancelo.

This follows Cancelo’s early departure from the team’s recent match.

Earlier today, Barcelona faced Rayo Vallecano in a La Liga fixture.

Despite ongoing injury concerns within the Blaugrana’s defense, Cancelo started the game and provided the assist for their solitary goal in a hard-won victory.

However, in the final moments at Spotify Camp Nou, the former Manchester City player collapsed, appearing to be in distress.

He was subsequently substituted, with youngster Xavi Espart taking his place.

During the post-match press conference, Hansi Flick was questioned about whether his versatile full-back had sustained an injury.

Barça’s coach reassured reporters, stating:

“He is not injured. It was incredible to witness his extreme fatigue, yet he continued to play until we were able to substitute him.”
