The search for Tottenham Hotspur’s next manager is underway, with several names, both familiar and new, emerging as potential candidates for the crucial role.
Glenn Hoddle, a revered figure in English football and now a respected television pundit, is 68 years old. His previous tenure as Spurs manager ended with his dismissal in September 2003, and his most recent coaching role was with Wolverhampton Wanderers, which he departed in July 2006.
Ryan Mason, a popular and well-regarded personality within Tottenham, has twice stepped in as caretaker manager following the exits of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte. However, his standing took a recent hit after being dismissed by West Bromwich Albion in January following an unproductive period at The Hawthorns. This recent disappointment raises questions about whether Spurs would reconsider him, or indeed, if he would be willing to return to such a challenging environment.
Former player Tim Sherwood, who served as Tottenham’s permanent head coach for six months before leaving in May 2014, has publicly thrown his hat into the ring. He confidently asserted his ability to stabilize the team, stating: “I would keep them in the Premier League. I believe that someone with common sense keeps them in the Premier League.”
Another name being discussed is Robbie Keane, currently involved with Ferencváros in Hungary. Keane falls into the category of younger, aspiring managers. A key consideration for the former Spurs captain would be whether he would abandon his current full-time commitment for a potentially short-term role that might only encompass a handful of matches.
