Atlético Madrid Defender Set for Premier League Move

A defensive player for La Liga powerhouse Atlético Madrid is reportedly preparing for a summer transfer to the Premier League. The Atlético star nearing an exit is Matteo Ruggeri.

Speculation surrounding Ruggeri's future has been rife throughout the summer transfer window. It has been widely rumored that Atlético would be open to selling the defender, who joined the Spanish capital just a year ago, if a suitable offer were to be received.

Diego Simeone's squad has already been bolstered at left-back for the upcoming season with the high-profile signing of Alejandro Grimaldo.

Following a recent bid from Premier League club Aston Villa for Ruggeri, Atlético's hierarchy reportedly showed no hesitation in approving the deal.

As mentioned, the Italian international has reportedly given his agreement to join Unai Emery's side this weekend. According to transfer market insider Matteo Moretto:
