Bernardo Silva's Role Under Mourinho at Real Madrid
Details have emerged regarding new Real Madrid coach José Mourinho's strategy for integrating summer signing Bernardo Silva into the team. It's understood that the 31-year-old midfielder will initially be deployed in a deeper, defensive role.
Bernardo Silva joined Real Madrid this summer after his contract with Manchester City expired. He reportedly turned down offers from other major clubs to move to the Spanish capital.
Given the diverse midfield options available to Real Madrid, his exact position for the upcoming season had been uncertain. However, recent information from Real Madrid insider Jose Felix Diaz of Diario AS has shed light on Mourinho's plans.
Mourinho intends for Bernardo Silva to partner with Aurélien Tchouaméni in a central midfield pivot. The Portuguese manager believes this pairing will be crucial in dictating the team's attacking play, with Bernardo responsible for distributing the ball from a deeper starting position. This tactical approach was apparently considered even before the team's preseason training began.
