Max Eberl confirms Bayern Munich’s interest in VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade

Bayern Munich`s board member for sport, Max Eberl, has confirmed the Bundesliga champions` interest in potentially signing VfB Stuttgart`s in-form forward and Germany U21 international, Nick Woltemade.

The 23-year-old attacker had a remarkable first season at Stuttgart during the 2024/25 campaign following his transfer from Werder Bremen. He proved highly effective, contributing 12 goals and two assists in the Bundesliga. Additionally, he scored five goals in the DFB Cup, notably finding the net in the final in May as VfB lifted the trophy.

These impressive performances led to his initial call-up for the senior Germany national team. He also played a leading role for the Germany U21 side, scoring six goals and providing three assists on their way to the final of the UEFA U21 European Championship.

Such achievements understandably captured the attention of the reigning Bundesliga champions. Following Bayern`s 4-2 victory over Flamengo in the last 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup, Eberl stated to DAZN, “It`s no secret that he`s a player we`re considering, let`s see what`s possible.”

However, the 51-year-old was quick to clarify that as of that moment, there had not been any formal or “real discussion” with Stuttgart regarding a transfer.

Bayern midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović, a Germany teammate of Woltemade, revealed he has engaged in lighthearted conversations about a potential move. “He`s a good friend of mine,” said Pavlovic. “Of course, I`d be delighted. I`ve already talked to him a bit about it and joked [about him joining]. We`ll see what happens with him in the future.”

When questioned about the speculation himself at a press conference before the U21 final against England, Woltemade chose to remain cautious. He commented, “There are always things going on around you. That doesn`t just affect me, but other players too.”

Adding to the complexity, Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle had firmly stated back in June that the club had no intention of selling Woltemade during the current summer transfer window.
