According to a new report, Newcastle United has initiated discussions with Chelsea regarding the potential signing of one of their less frequently featured players.
Newcastle Confirms Cordero Signing, Continues Forward Hunt
This summer is anticipated to be busy for the Magpies as they aim to strengthen their squad for a season featuring Champions League football. The club was previously linked with Liam Delap and Bryan Mbeumo, but Delap moved to Chelsea, and the Brentford forward seems bound for Manchester United.
However, there was positive news for Newcastle as they announced the signing of winger Antonio Cordero on Thursday morning. Cordero will join on July 1st after his contract with Spanish club Malaga expires. The transfer is contingent on Premier League registration and obtaining a UK visa.
Despite his young age (18), Cordero made 60 appearances for Malaga, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists. His performances in Spain have earned him a transfer to St James` Park in England, which he described as a “true honour”.
Cordero told the club`s media: `It`s truly an honour and a pleasure to be here. I`m someone who aims high, and what better place to do that than one of the best in the world? This is a significant step for me, and it`s a key reason I came here. I`m happy to take it and I`m very eager to get started.`
Newcastle Inquires About £50m Chelsea Forward
With the Cordero deal finalised, the Magpies are quickly pursuing their next target. According to Caught Offside, Newcastle has contacted Chelsea to discuss a potential summer move for Noni Madueke.
Caught Offside reports that Madueke is seen as a promising player, and Chelsea is currently unlikely to let him leave this summer. Nevertheless, the Magpies have made an approach to gauge the possibility of a deal, with AC Milan also monitoring the situation.
While Chelsea isn`t actively seeking to sell, it`s reported they might consider an offer around €60 million (roughly £50 million). However, Newcastle`s valuation of Madueke is closer to €40-42 million (£33-35 million), leaving a notable gap to potentially bridge.

The England international, whom former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino called “unbelievable” last season, made 32 Premier League appearances under Enzo Maresca. However, with new players arriving at Stamford Bridge, Madueke might face increased competition, making a transfer a potential option.
