PIF Believes 22-Cap International Will Join Newcastle After £55m Bid

Football News

Following a period of disappointing transfer outcomes, Newcastle United`s owners, PIF, are now reportedly optimistic about securing one of their priority targets after submitting a renewed bid valued at approximately £55 million.

The club based at St James` Park initially sought to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford at the beginning of the summer, only for reports to emerge suggesting he favored a move to Manchester United. Subsequently, the Magpies reportedly turned their attention to Joao Pedro, who then completed a widely anticipated transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion to Chelsea. These developments sent Newcastle back to re-evaluate their transfer plans.

However, during this time, several new prospects have entered their consideration, while a deal for long-term target James Trafford finally appears likely to be completed this summer.

Alongside Trafford, players such as Mohammed Kudus and Harvey Elliott have reportedly been on Newcastle`s radar as they looked to bolster their attacking options. With Mbeumo seemingly heading to Manchester United and Pedro already confirmed as a Chelsea player, Elliott and Kudus represented promising alternatives for the summer window.

Newcastle Lodges Fresh Elanga Offer

According to the latest reports, however, it may be neither of these alternatives who ultimately fills Newcastle`s need for a winger. Instead, it could be one of their primary targets who helps turn their summer transfer fortunes around.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle has now submitted a new £55 million bid to acquire Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest, with PIF expressing a desire to conclude the deal `as soon as possible`. Those within the club are reportedly confident that the 22-cap Swedish international will indeed become a Newcastle player, anticipating that Nottingham Forest will accept their £55 million offer.

Should Newcastle successfully finalise deals for both Trafford and Elanga, which currently seems probable, any early summer transfer difficulties would likely be quickly forgotten by manager Eddie Howe.

`Mohammed

Elanga`s potential arrival is particularly exciting news for the fans, especially if the winger joins the club in the coming weeks. The Nottingham Forest star, described as `special` by Nuno Espirito Santo last season, possesses the potential to form one of the most formidable attacking trios in the Premier League alongside Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.
