RB Leipzig Decides Against Exercising Purchase Option for Kosta Nedeljković

Bundesliga News

Kosta Nedeljković, the 20-year-old Serbian defender, recently made his return to the national team after recovering from a knee injury, featuring briefly against Spain. Despite this progress, his long-term future at RB Leipzig appears to be coming to an end.

The German club has reportedly opted against activating their €10 million purchase option for Nedeljković. The right-back initially joined Leipzig on loan from Aston Villa in early 2024, but has since fallen in the pecking order behind established players like Ridle Baku and Benjamin Henrichs.

Nedeljković initially impressed during the first phase of his loan, playing in 10 out of 14 potential matches. At that point, Leipzig chose not to make his move permanent, but instead extended his loan spell for another year. However, with only five Bundesliga appearances this season, the Serbian international, who nearly transferred to Fiorentina in January, is no longer considered part of Leipzig’s future plans.
