Spanish giants Real Madrid recently confirmed a new injury concern within their first-team squad.
It has been confirmed that defender Álvaro Carreras will face a period on the sidelines.
Carreras was notably absent from last Friday’s match, where Real Madrid returned to victorious form against Celta Vigo, due to a one-match La Liga suspension.
Initially, there was an expectation that Carreras would be available for the Champions League fixture against Manchester City this week.
However, as previously indicated, this will not be the case.
According to an official statement released by Los Blancos on Monday across their website and social media channels, the former Benfica player has suffered a calf injury.
The statement reads: ‘Following medical examinations conducted on our player Álvaro Carreras by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the calf of his right leg. His recovery will be monitored.’
