Simone Inzaghi Joins Al-Hilal in $50 Million Deal, Becomes World’s Highest-Paid Manager

Football News

Italian manager Simone Inzaghi has completed a significant move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. The deal, reportedly valued at $50 million over two years, makes him the highest-paid football manager in the world. Inzaghi departs Inter Milan after a successful period, with the club confirming the mutual decision to part ways following recent discussions.

Appointed in the summer of 2021, Inzaghi`s three-year tenure at San Siro was marked by significant domestic success. He guided Inter to a total of six trophies: one Serie A title (securing the club`s historic 20th Scudetto), two Coppa Italia crowns, and three Supercoppa Italiana titles. Under his leadership, Inter also reached the UEFA Champions League final in 2023. Inzaghi leaves having cemented his place among Inter`s most decorated managers, his trophy haul surpassed only by club legends Helenio Herrera and Roberto Mancini. At Al-Hilal, he is expected to lead the team in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Both Inter Milan and Simone Inzaghi issued statements confirming the amicable separation. The club expressed gratitude for his work, highlighting the six trophies won as bringing Inter back to prominence in Italian and European football. President Giuseppe Marotta echoed this sentiment, thanking Inzaghi for his dedication and the sincere dialogue that led to the mutual decision. Inzaghi himself addressed the “Nerazzurri family,” expressing deep affection for the club, thanking players, management, and fans.

With Inzaghi`s departure, Inter Milan is now searching for a new head coach to lead the team into the next chapter. Potential candidates reportedly include Cesc Fabregas and Roberto De Zerbi.
