Reports suggest Tottenham Hotspur are significantly interested in an Aston Villa player, and the North London club is reportedly preparing a key offer to attract him.

Spurs are close to completing their second summer signing, J League talent Kota Takai, following the permanent acquisition of Mathys Tel. The 20-year-old defender is reportedly scheduled for a medical next week.

Identified by Technical Director Johan Lange, Takai is seen by Tottenham as a promising young player who could potentially follow the path of successful recruits like Lucas Bergvall, Destiny Udogie, and Pape Sarr, who have become integral first-team members.

Tottenham is set to pay a record £5 million fee for a J League player, but fans are also hoping for the addition of more senior reinforcements.

Competing in the Champions League next season, the club urgently needs proven players to strengthen their Premier League squad for a demanding schedule.

Tottenham is also reportedly in discussions for West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus, according to reliable sources like Fabrizio Romano. The Ghanaian international is apparently open to a move to North London.

However, he is not the only Premier League talent attracting their interest.

Tottenham Linked with Aston Villa Midfielder Jacob Ramsey

According to Mick Brown, a former scout for Spurs who spoke to Football Insider, Tottenham`s interest focuses on £40 million-rated Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.

Recent reports have linked Spurs with a move for the English midfielder. Brown commented that the Tottenham manager (whom he named as Frank, likely in error regarding the name of the current Spurs manager) is a personal admirer of Ramsey and that Spurs could offer him more game time, potentially swaying his decision.

“Jacob Ramsey has to make a decision,” said Brown.

“In his own mind, he’ll weigh up whether he thinks he’s going to be a regular in the Villa team. If that’s not the case, he has to ask the same question about whether he would be at Tottenham.

“From what I hear, Spurs would be prepared to offer him more minutes from the start of games than he is currently getting at Villa. If that is the case, I’m sure he would be happy to make that move.

“He’s had doubts about whether he’s going to be a regular starting XI player at Villa, or if he’s going to be better served moving somewhere else. So a move to Tottenham would be a fresh start and a new environment for him. There have been a few questions about what his future at Villa might look like, because the manager isn’t certain he’s going to be a big part of the plans.

“That opens the door for Spurs, because Thomas Frank rates him, and he’s one they’ve been interested in for a while.”

Aston Villa`s Jacob Ramsey

The versatile 24-year-old midfielder has already accumulated 167 senior appearances for Aston Villa, offering a valuable mix of youth and experience. Given this profile, Ramsey could be a strong candidate to bolster Tottenham`s midfield depth and increase competition for starting spots.

Building squad depth will be crucial for Tottenham next season, making this potential transfer a strategically beneficial move.
