Valencia’s efforts to retain their midfield talent, Guido Rodríguez, have been complicated by interest from fellow La Liga club Villarreal.
The Yellow Submarine are reportedly showing significant interest in acquiring the Argentine midfielder.
Rodríguez returned to Spain in January after a less-than-successful spell in the Premier League with West Ham United. Valencia signed the 32-year-old on a cost-effective deal.
He quickly became a key player for Los Che in the latter half of the season, scoring four goals in 16 league appearances.
However, his current club faces a challenge due to the terms of his contract. The midfielder’s agreement at Mestalla is only valid until the summer, making him a free agent soon.
While Valencia is working to secure a contract extension, two rival clubs have now entered the race for his signature.
According to a report from market insider Ekrem Konur, both Olympiakos and Villarreal are interested in the 32-year-old Argentine midfielder from Valencia. His contract is listed until 2026 with a market value of €5 million, though high wage demands are noted as a potential obstacle for a move.
