Nick Woltemade, fresh off an impressive 2024/25 season, is currently the leading goalscorer at the UEFA U21 European Championship in Slovakia. The VfB Stuttgart and Germany striker`s scoring form has been unmatched in the tournament so far.
He immediately demonstrated his clinical ability by scoring a superb hat-trick in Germany U21`s opening 3-0 victory against Slovenia last week, showcasing his fierce finishing.
His second goal in that match, a composed finish with the outside of his boot, was particularly impressive. The 23-year-old forward followed this up with another goal, a powerful header, and two assists in Germany`s 4-2 win over Czechia, a result that put them atop Group B.
The Stuttgart player was rested for the final group stage match against England but returned to the starting lineup for the quarter-final clash with Italy, where he opened the scoring in a dramatic 3-2 extra-time victory.
This goal brought his tournament tally to five, two more than anyone else.
This sensational form is a continuation of his strong finish to the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, where he scored in each of the final three matchdays to reach a total of 12 goals.
He also opened the scoring in Stuttgart`s 4-2 DFB Cup final triumph over Arminia Bielefeld, securing his position as the competition`s leading goalscorer.
Capping off a remarkable spring, the talented striker also earned his first senior caps for the German national team under Julian Nagelsmann, featuring in UEFA Nations League matches against Portugal and France in June.
Germany U21 coach Antonio di Salvo praised Woltemade`s prolific record of 12 goals in 16 U21 appearances, stating, “The streak with us is scary; long may it continue.”
Regardless of how far Germany advances in the U21 Euros, Woltemade`s scoring prowess appears set to continue, with a clash against champions Bayern Munich in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on August 16th on the horizon.
