Barcelona Withdraw from Race for Star Winger

Football News

Spanish powerhouse Barcelona has reportedly halted their pursuit of a key attacking transfer target as the summer transfer window approaches.

The player in question is Yan Diomande.

Diomande, a dynamic wide player, is enjoying a remarkable season with German club RB Leipzig.

The Ivory Coast international has established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most impressive wingers, accumulating 19 goal involvements in 29 matches.

At only 19 years old and possessing exceptional dribbling skills in one-on-one scenarios, Diomande has attracted significant interest from numerous European clubs.

Barcelona was among the interested parties, actively seeking alternatives to their on-loan forward Marcus Rashford for the upcoming season.

However, the Catalan club has reportedly concluded that a transfer for Diomande is currently unfeasible.

According to a report from Diario Sport:

‘Leipzig is aiming to secure the most lucrative sale in their history, prompting Barcelona to withdraw from negotiations and decline to enter any bidding war. Should Diomande depart, his destination is expected to be the Premier League.’

La Liga giants Barcelona have decided to end their chase for a primary attacking transfer target ahead of the summer.

The player in question is Yan Diomande.

Diomande, a wide player, is in the midst of what could be called a breakthrough campaign for German outfit RB Leipzig.

The Ivory Coast international has proven himself to be one of the Bundesliga’s most outstanding wingers, on his way to 19 goal contributions in 29 appearances.

Still only 19 years old, and with remarkable ability in one-on-one situations, Diomande has therefore been added to the transfer wishlists of a whole host of European clubs.

One such suitor came in the form of the aforementioned Barcelona, who were on the lookout for alternatives to the on-loan Marcus Rashford for next season.

As hinted at above, though, the Blaugrana have come to the conclusion that a deal for Diomande is simply not realistic at this point.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘Leipzig wants to complete the most expensive sale in their history, so the Blaugrana have already jumped off this train and will not enter the bidding. If Diomande leaves, he is aiming for the Premier League.’
