Tottenham Hotspur Eyes Espanyol Forward Roberto Fernandez

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly interested in signing Espanyol forward Roberto Fernandez. The 24-year-old joined Espanyol permanently in the summer of 2025 after a loan spell from Sporting Braga. While he contributed to 10 goals in all competitions last season, Fernandez has significantly improved this term, scoring six goals in seven La Liga appearances.

His recent form earned him a call-up to the Spanish national team for September/October fixtures. Following a challenging start to their own season, Tottenham is considering strengthening their attack next year and views Fernandez as a strong candidate, impressed by his promising displays.

However, Tottenham faces competition from Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion for the player's signature. Espanyol holds a strong negotiating position, with Fernandez under contract until 2031. The Catalan club might consider a sale if Tottenham presents a substantial offer, with the player's estimated value around £17 million.

Fernandez is described as a 6ft 1in, right-footed striker. He possesses speed, strength, aerial ability, can hold up play, and finishes chances effectively. He also demonstrates a strong work rate off the ball.

Tottenham recruited Omar Marmoush for their frontline this summer, but he has struggled to adapt. Meanwhile, Brighton's manager, Roberto De Zerbi, has Dominic Solanke and Richarlison as striker options. De Zerbi has indicated Richarlison will not play this season, and Solanke's performances since arriving from AFC Bournemouth have been inconsistent.

Fernandez is considered a talented player who has yet to reach his full potential, making him a potentially shrewd acquisition for Tottenham. It remains to be seen if the North London club will make a formal approach in January or next summer.

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly keen on signing Espanyol forward Roberto Fernandez, who has impressed with six goals in seven La Liga games this season. The 24-year-old Spaniard, also scouted by Chelsea and Brighton, is valued around £17m.
