Borussia Dortmund is reportedly gearing up to present an improved bid to Cologne for their attacking talent, Said El Mala, with the new offer expected to be submitted this week.

The proposed offer is believed to be in the region of €40 million, plus performance-based bonuses. This represents an increase from their previous bid, which reportedly amounted to €34 million plus €10 million in bonuses. This would mark Dortmund's third formal approach to their Bundesliga rivals for the player.

However, Cologne is holding out for an initial fee of €50 million. This stance is influenced by a previous offer from Premier League club Brentford, which reportedly totaled €55 million for their highly valued player. It is also understood that El Mala's preference, should he depart his current club, is to join Borussia Dortmund, notwithstanding interest from other football clubs.

While Cologne is likely to remain firm on their €50 million valuation, Dortmund's persistent interest underscores their determination to acquire the highly-rated winger. El Mala enjoyed a standout debut season in the Bundesliga with Cologne during the 2025/26 campaign, contributing 13 goals and four assists in Germany's top division.
