VfB Stuttgart Confirms Permanent Signing of Bilal El Khannouss
VfB Stuttgart's sporting director, Fabian Wohlgemuth, has officially confirmed the permanent acquisition of Bilal El Khannouss. Previously, reports indicated that the Bundesliga club held an €18 million buy option as part of their loan agreement with Leicester, contingent on specific targets being met. This was in addition to the €3.5 million loan fee paid last summer to bring the Moroccan midfielder to Germany.
When asked about the fulfillment of these conditions, Wohlgemuth stated, "Yes, that’s correct. I can confirm that. All the conditions have now been met. We are delighted that we have secured Bilal’s permanent commitment to VfB Stuttgart."
Following this permanent transfer, El Khannouss is set to sign a long-term contract with Stuttgart, running until 2030, a deal notably without a release clause.
Stuttgart's Season So Far
Before his departure for the Africa Cup of Nations, El Khannouss was a pivotal player under Sebastian Hoeneß, contributing significantly with eight goals and six assists. However, his form has experienced a dip since his return to the squad.
In contrast, teammates such as Deniz Undav and Jamie Leweling have recently hit peak form, making considerable impacts for the team.
