Chelsea is reportedly in a strong position to outmaneuver Tottenham Hotspur in the pursuit of Sporting CP defender Maxi Araujo. According to Football Insider, the Blues are currently leading the race for the 26-year-old South American talent.
Since his transfer to Sporting CP from Mexican club CD Toluca a couple of years ago, Araujo has experienced a successful period. During his time with the Lions, he has contributed to winning both the Liga Portugal title and the Taça de Portugal.
