Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has received a significant individual honor, confirmed on Monday. The Uruguayan international has been awarded the UEFA Champions League Goal of the Season for the 2025/26 campaign.
Valverde’s exceptional goal occurred during the first leg of the Round of 16 tie against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in March. While earning Man of the Match accolades, the midfielder completed a remarkable hat-trick with a moment of individual brilliance.
Set up by Brahim Díaz, Valverde showcased exquisite skill. With a delicate first touch, he lobbed the ball over the head of Marc Guéhi before unleashing a powerful volley into the far corner of the Manchester City net.
This outstanding performance has now been fittingly recognized. Valverde has overcome strong competition to secure the prestigious Goal of the Season award in the Champions League.
The 27-year-old becomes the second Real Madrid player to claim an individual trophy in the last 24 hours, following Arda Güler’s recognition as the Champions League Young Player of the Season.
