Arteta: Guimaraes Will Bring New Energy to Arsenal
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, expressed his excitement about the signing of Bruno Guimaraes, stating that the midfielder will "ignite something different" within the team. He also alluded to the possibility of further transfer activity for the Gunners during the summer. Guimaraes' transfer for £75 million from Newcastle United was officially confirmed on Saturday. The 28-year-old Brazilian midfielder was presented to the fans at Emirates Stadium prior to Sunday's match against Borussia Dortmund.
Although Guimaraes was not part of the squad for the 3-2 defeat against Dortmund, he is expected to feature in the upcoming game against Como on Wednesday.
Arteta was eager to elaborate on his strong desire to bring the Brazilian player to North London. "I believe he describes himself as a warrior," Arteta said. "I think he's a warrior with tremendous quality, intuition, leadership, and charisma, which will benefit us and truly ignite something different within the team."
"I am delighted to have him. We see very clearly – especially the energy he immediately brought to the training ground, the hunger, the desire to come here and make significant history at the club. That is the ambition we require."
"We aim to reach the next level and are thoroughly convinced that we need players with such personality, desire, and character to propel everyone within the organization to achieve even greater heights."
With Guimaraes joining the squad, Arteta now has a wealth of midfield options, including Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Martin Zubimendi, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, Eberechi Eze, and Mikel Merino.
