Cristiano Ronaldo's Sister Slams Portugal Fans After Player's Departure
Tensions between Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese football establishment have intensified. The star forward's sister has now publicly criticized the nation's supporters.
Ronaldo became a central figure in football discussions following his decision to leave the national team camp. This move came after a press conference by Portugal's coach downplayed reports of friction between the player and staff regarding his reduced playing time in a recent match.
Ronaldo confirmed the situation through a statement on his social media, announcing his immediate departure from the national team's Nations League preparations.
Following Ronaldo's announcement, his sister, Elma Aveiro, posted a strong message on Instagram. She placed blame on parties other than her brother, stating:
“CR7 deserved more respect. The national team deserved more structure. Portuguese journalism deserved more competence and less speculation.
“As for the Portuguese people, well… they don’t deserve to have the best at anything. We are envious, disdainful, ignorant, and we deserve to return to the mediocrity we always had in football before CR7.
“Thank you for everything, CR7! You deserved more!”
