Barcelona president Joan Laporta has offered a veiled hint regarding the club's ongoing interest in Atlético Madrid star Julián Álvarez. Laporta suggested that while a transfer might seem unlikely, it can never be definitively ruled out.
Barcelona has been actively pursuing Álvarez throughout the summer, identifying him as an ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski for the upcoming season. However, Atlético Madrid has consistently maintained that their star striker is not for sale. Atlético CEO Miguel Angel Gil recently reiterated the club's stance, stating that they have informed the player, his representatives, and Barcelona's president that Álvarez is the perfect fit for Atlético and that they intend to keep him.
Despite Atlético's firm position, Barcelona's board appears undeterred. When questioned about the Álvarez situation, Joan Laporta commented, "There are many cases where it's been said that a player won't go to a team, but then he ended up going… I don't want to mention examples."
