Arbeloa concluded his tenure as interim Real Madrid manager on Saturday with a 4-2 victory over Athletic Club. Following Xabi Alonso’s departure earlier in the year, Arbeloa took the helm on an interim basis, but Florentino Pérez and the club’s hierarchy ultimately decided to part ways with the former defender after a challenging period.
The 43-year-old’s time as manager was marked by considerable turbulence, with persistent reports suggesting poor player relationships. Kylian Mbappé, who has himself experienced another season filled with drama, was reportedly among those with whom Arbeloa faced difficulties.
This past weekend, Arbeloa chose to set the record straight. Through his official social media channels, the Spaniard shared a sincere message for his now former player:
“Thank you so much, Kylian Mbappé. I will always brag that I coached such an extraordinary football player with unparalleled talent. Hard times don’t last forever, but strong people do. Onto everything that’s coming.”
