Barcelona Star’s World Cup Hopes Diminished Due to Injury

Football News

Barcelona forward Raphinha is likely to miss the rest of the World Cup after sustaining an injury during Brazil’s recent match.

The Brazilian international featured in his country’s latest fixture but was forced off in the first half due to a muscular issue.

Raphinha, who started alongside Vinícius Júnior and Matheus Cunha in the attacking lineup, picked up the injury during Brazil’s 3-0 victory over Haiti.

The problem has been identified as a recurrence of a hamstring injury in his right leg, a concern that also affected him at the club level last season.

According to journalist Xavi Hernández Navarro of Catalan outlet ARA, the 29-year-old’s presence in the remaining matches of the World Cup is now “practically ruled out.” This setback significantly dims his prospects of participating further in the 2026 tournament.

Barcelona star Raphinha appears highly likely to miss the remainder of this summer’s World Cup tournament.

This is due to an injury setback the Brazilian suffered in his country’s latest outing.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil were back in action in the early hours of Saturday. Raphinha featured from the start in the match, joining Vinícius Jr. and Matheus Cunha in a star-studded Seleção frontline.

However, en route to an eventual 3-0 triumph over Haiti, the former Leeds United man picked up a muscular problem, forcing him off late in the first half.

The issue has since been confirmed to be in Raphinha’s troublesome right hamstring, the same one that caused him problems at club level once more this past season.

And because of this, the 29-year-old may well have played his final game at the 2026 World Cup.

As per a report from journalist Xavi Hernández Navarro of Catalan outlet ARA:

“Raphinha Dias Belloli has once again injured his hamstring and his presence in the remainder of the World Cup is practically ruled out.”
