Jamal Musiala rejects Oliver Kahn's injury rehab advice: "I want to go to the World Cup!"
Following Bayern Munich's historic Bundesliga achievement on Saturday evening, Jamal Musiala directly addressed former Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn's suggestion regarding skipping the World Cup. Earlier this week, Kahn advised Musiala, who recently returned from a severe injury sustained during last summer's Club World Cup, to take more recovery time.
Musiala, having only recently rejoined the team, was not included in Julian Nagelsmann's squad for the March international break. Pressure is mounting on the now 23-year-old, especially after his 18-year-old teammate Lennart Karl performed exceptionally well in Musiala's absence. Kahn's comments, though perhaps well-intentioned, drew significant criticism for the legendary German goalkeeper in the German press.
Kahn's advice to Jamal Musiala
“I think he should forgo going to the World Cup,” Kahn stated. “If I feel that something isn’t right in my game, then I have to work on myself to be ready again. Jamal, like everyone else, has to be at 100 percent if he wants to play.”
Musiala responds to Kahn
“I’m getting into the action better,” Musiala commented after scoring his fourth goal in 14 appearances since his return in late January. “Every minute in which I can get the feeling back in my feet and legs does me good.”
“I haven’t read what he [Kahn] said,” Musiala continued. “In any event, I want to go to the World Cup.”
