PLAYER RATINGS | Bayern Munich 4-0 Union Berlin — Four-midable Bavarians thrash Steffen Baumgart’s men to extend lead at the top of the table
Bayern Munich continued their confident march towards the Bundesliga title, securing a convincing victory thanks to goals from Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, and Harry Kane.
The first half was entirely dictated by Bayern, who finished the initial 45 minutes with two goals to their name. Olise and Gnabry accurately struck the net after an intense battle with the Union Berlin defense, which showed resilience and at times was lucky enough not to concede until the 43rd minute. The hosts had a prime opportunity to open the scoring in the 30th minute when Josip Stanišić broke free and squared the ball to an unmarked Lennart Karl, who then hit the post from ten yards.
Union Berlin largely believed they would go into halftime unscathed, but Bayern applied strong pressure, and shortly after Olise's opener, they crumbled, conceding a second goal. Kane also had a chance to score in the 40th minute but slipped at the crucial moment, dragging the ball across the face of the goal from close range.
The team from the German capital had little hope of a second-half comeback. The Englishman, Harry Kane, decisively sealed the match, scoring his 31st Bundesliga goal of the season just four minutes after the break. Any minor threat posed by Steffen Baumgart's side was neutralized by the Bayern defense. The visitors' best chance came when substitute Jeong Woo-yeong's long-range effort forced a difficult save from Jonas Urbig.
