Top officials from La Liga champions Barcelona were seen in the Spanish capital of Madrid late on Tuesday evening. This visit is understood to be in anticipation of a final concerted effort to secure the transfer of Julián Álvarez.

Julián Álvarez has long been identified as Barcelona's primary target to fill the role of the central striker in Hansi Flick's team, succeeding Robert Lewandowski.

With his technical prowess, goal-scoring ability, and commendable on-field demeanor, the Argentine is considered an ideal fit for the dynamic system envisioned by the German manager.

However, to date, Álvarez's current club, Atlético Madrid, has maintained a firm stance that the 26-year-old is not available for transfer.

Barcelona has already had a substantial offer for Álvarez rejected this summer. Atlético's management has been adamant that their key forward will not be departing before the transfer window closes.

Despite these previous setbacks, Joan Laporta and the Barcelona leadership reportedly still hold out hope. According to a report from Jijantes on Tuesday evening:

“Deco and João Amaral are in Madrid: a final attempt to sign Julián Álvarez. In the coming hours, a meeting is scheduled with Fernando Hidalgo, the Argentine player's agent.”
