Barcelona Miss Out on Defensive Transfer Target

La Liga champions Barcelona have recently lost out on a player who was on their transfer shortlist, as it is understood that Lucas Herrington is poised to join Premier League club Hull City.

Herrington, an 18-year-old central defender, currently plays for Major League Soccer team the Colorado Rapids. Since moving to the USA earlier this year, the young player's reputation has grown considerably, earning praise for his abilities both with and without the ball.

His promising performances led to a call-up to Australia's World Cup squad this summer, and the Brisbane native has already earned a couple of starts. Barcelona, seeking to gain an advantage, made an offer for Herrington's signature.

However, their proposal was rejected. The teenage defender is now preparing for a move to the Premier League. According to a Blaugrana insider, Sergi Capdevila, Barcelona's pursuit was hindered by the Colorado Rapids' valuation.

Capdevila stated, "Barça tried to get ahead with Lucas Herrington, but Colorado Rapids didn't accept an initial offer below 10 million. They even went to see him in person in the USA.
