Barcelona to Cover Majority of Ter Stegen's Wages During Loan Spell

La Liga club Barcelona is set to bear the lion's share of Marc-André ter Stegen's salary for the upcoming season. This arrangement comes as the German goalkeeper is reportedly on the cusp of departing the Catalan club.

Ter Stegen has been heavily linked with a Barcelona exit for some time. Following a loan spell with Girona in the latter half of the previous season, the 34-year-old is understood to be low in the pecking order for Hansi Flick's squad.

Dutch giants Ajax have recently initiated discussions for a year-long loan deal for Ter Stegen.

These negotiations are reportedly in their final stages, with only minor contractual points left to resolve between the clubs.

However, as mentioned, even with Ter Stegen expected to play for another prominent European club in the 2026/27 season, Barcelona will still be responsible for almost his entire wage package.

According to a report from Jijantes, as cited by Diario Sport:

"Ajax will only assume between 10% and 15% of the German goalkeeper's current salary."
