Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has responded to the offensive remarks made by Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla. The senator's comments, made after Paraguay's World Cup defeat to France, have drawn widespread condemnation.

France secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Paraguay in the World Cup, with Mbappé scoring the decisive goal from the penalty spot. Following the match, Mbappé's behavior towards the Paraguayan players, which was perceived as taunting after experiencing rough play, led to a harsh response from Senator Amarilla on social media. She described Mbappé with derogatory and racist terms, including suggesting he grew up drinking from coconuts and that chimpanzees were the most educated creatures he encountered.

These statements have been met with backlash from the global football community and beyond. In a strong response posted on his official X account, Mbappé addressed Senator Amarilla directly.

He stated: "Madame Celeste Amarilla, You are a despicable woman and unworthy of your position. You do not represent Paraguay, that country which has sweated passion and honor throughout the competition. Through your recklessness and your brazen racism, the entire world has already forgotten the journey and the historic effort that your players accomplished during this World Cup, making way for an incompetent woman who gives the worst possible image of her country. I will never allow people like her the freedom to spread their hatred and racism across the world."
