Following the match, Mbappé's behavior towards the Paraguayan players, which was perceived as taunting after experiencing rough play, led to a harsh response from Senator Amarilla on social media. She described Mbappé with derogatory and racist terms, including suggesting he grew up drinking from coconuts and that chimpanzees were the most educated creatures he encountered.

He stated: "Madame Celeste Amarilla, You are a despicable woman and unworthy of your position. You do not represent Paraguay, that country which has sweated passion and honor throughout the competition.
