Real Madrid Confirms Gonzalo García's Transfer to Fulham
Real Madrid, the prominent La Liga club, has officially announced the latest player to depart from their first-team squad. Forward Gonzalo García has concluded his tenure with the club.
Gonzalo García had been widely linked with a move away from the Spanish capital throughout the summer. Following Álvaro Arbeloa's expressed desire to reunite with the Spaniard at Premier League side Fulham, the Cottagers initiated negotiations with Real Madrid.
Real Madrid indicated their willingness to sanction a sale once they had secured reinforcements in the attacking department, notably signing Carlos Espí from Levante last week.
On Monday, the confirmation of Gonzalo's transfer to West London came as little surprise. A statement released by Real Madrid via their official website and social media platforms read:
"Real Madrid C.F. and Fulham FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of our player Gonzalo García. Real Madrid, which will always be his home, wishes him and his family the very best in this new chapter of their lives."
According to transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, the details of the transfer are as follows:
"€40 million fixed fee, €2 million in add-ons, a 30% sell-on clause, and matching rights for Real Madrid."
