Former Real Madrid star Pepe has voiced his aspirations for the club’s recent summer acquisition, Ibrahima Konaté.
Defender Konaté has officially committed his future to the Spanish giants, Real Madrid, for the upcoming years.
After opting not to extend his contract with Liverpool, the French player was signed by Real Madrid as a free agent.
Konaté is coming off a rather disappointing final season at Anfield, where the 27-year-old did not seem to perform at his usual high standard.
However, in the years preceding this, he had established himself as one of the premier central defenders in Europe, earning praise for his contributions both with and without the ball.
A figure with legendary status at the Bernabéu, Pepe is among those who hope Konaté will rediscover his top form while playing for his new team.
Speaking to the media this past weekend, Pepe, who played for Real Madrid for a decade, shared his thoughts:
“I really like Ibrahima Konaté. I hope he surpasses me; it would indicate that things are going well for Real Madrid and that we are winning titles. That is what I desire.”
