Barcelona Training: Iker Rodríguez Joins First Team Ahead of Sevilla Clash

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick included a promising young goalkeeper in the first-team training session on Friday.

The goalkeeper is Iker Rodríguez.

Goalkeeping has become a key topic in Barcelona before the final La Liga matches ahead of the international break. This follows an injury to Barcelona's number one, Joan García, during the team's win against Racing Santander.

García is unlikely to play against Sevilla on Saturday. Wojciech Szczęsny is expected to replace him for the match.

This situation means another goalkeeper will be called up for the trip to Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium.

Reports from the Ciutat Esportiva indicate that Iker Rodríguez will be that goalkeeper.

According to journalist Sergi Capdevila:

"Flick called up Iker Rodríguez for today’s session. La Masia's future goalkeeper, in principle, will double up this weekend (Sevilla+Barbastro for Barca Atlètic on Sunday) if there are no plan changes with Joan."
