Athletic Club, a Spanish La Liga club, has finalized an agreement for the transfer of one of its midfielders. It is understood that Unai Gómez is preparing to move to Italy to join Udinese.
The 23-year-old midfielder had a supplementary role for Athletic Club this past season, participating in 36 matches across all competitions. However, he started less than half of these games, struggling to secure a consistent starting position in the team.
The management at Athletic Club had previously indicated a willingness to sell Gómez if the price was right. Serie A club Udinese has now reportedly agreed to meet the required transfer fee.
According to insider Fabrizio Romano, “Udinese have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Unai Gómez from Athletic Club. An agreement has been made between the clubs and also with the player, who will sign a deal for the 23-year-old midfielder from Bilbao. He is ready for a new chapter in Italy.”
